The Committee of the Australian Heraldry Society is hosting a lecture by Dr Clair Boudreau FRHSC AIH, Chief Herald of Canada.
Dr. Claire Boudreau is the Chief Herald of Canada and Director of the Canadian
Heraldic Authority. As such, she is the senior advisor to the Governor General of
Canada for all heraldic matters, including national and royal symbols. Her
responsibilities include the granting and assigning of coats of arms, flags and badges
to Canadian institutions and individuals as well as providing direction for the creation
and maintenance of a heraldic system for Canada. She is an historian and the author
of numerous articles and publications on heraldic studies. She is also the principal
designer of the Authority’s pioneering online Public Register of Arms, Flags and
Badges of Canada, which was launched in 2005. She has served as a herald in the
Canadian Heraldic Authority since 1997 and has been an Academician of the
Académie Internationale d’Héraldique since 2000. Dr Boudreau will be a prominent
speaker at the Consitutional Monarch in the Commonwealth Realms Conference
being held in Wellington New Zealand (21-23 May 2015) immediately prior to her
arrival in Australia.
